The Lyapunov and Riccati equations are two of the fundamental equations of control and system theory, having special relevance for system identification, optimization, boundary value problems, power systems, signal processing, and communications. The Lyapunov Matrix Equation in System Stability and Control covers mathematical developments and applications while providing quick and easy references for solutions to engineering and mathematical problems. Examples of real-world systems are given throughout the text in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented methods and algorithms. The book will appeal to practicing engineers, theoreticians, applied mathematicians, and graduate students who seek a comprehensive view of the main results of the Lyapunov matrix equation.Presents techniques for solving and analyzing the algebraic, differential, and difference Lyapunov matrix equations of continuous-time and discrete-time systemsOffers summaries and references at the end of each chapterContains examples of the use of the equation to solve real-world problemsProvides quick and easy references for the solutions to engineering and mathematical problems using the Lyapunov equation

Unique in scope, Optimal Control: Weakly Coupled Systems and Applications provides complete coverage of modern linear, bilinear, and nonlinear optimal control algorithms for both continuous-time and discrete-time weakly coupled systems, using deterministic as well as stochastic formulations. This book presents numerous applications to real world systems from various industries, including aerospace, and discusses the design of subsystem-level optimal filters. Organized into independent chapters for easy access to the material, this text also contains several case studies, examples, exercises, computer assignments, and formulations of research problems to help instructors and students.

Parallel Algorithms for Optimal Control of Large Scale Linear Systems is a comprehensive presentation for both linear and bilinear systems. The parallel algorithms presented in this book are applicable to a wider class of practical systems than those served by traditional methods for large scale singularly perturbed and weakly coupled systems based on the power-series expansion methods. It is intended for scientists and advance graduate students in electrical engineering and computer science who deal with parallel algorithms and control systems, especially large scale systems. The material presented is both comprehensive and unique.

This book is designed to be a comprehensive treatment of linear methods to optimal control of bilinear systems. The unified theme of this book is the use of dynamic programming in order to simplify and decompose required computations for the optimal control of bilinear-quadratic systems. There are numerous examples of bilinear control systems that provide great challenges to engineers, mathematicians and computer scientists: these include nuclear reactors, missile intercept problems and mechanical brake systems. The book also examines two special classes of bilinear-quadratic control problems: namely singularly perturbed and weakly coupled bilinear control systems. The usefulness of the presented methods to these two types of control problem is demonstrated by several real control system examples.

This book provides a comprehensive view of current developments in the theory of recursive reduced-order methods for singularly perturbed and weakly coupled linear control systems. The recursive methods offer several advantages: high accuracy can easily be achieved at low cost, parallel processing can be used, results are obtained under mild assumptions, and software and hardware implementation of the control algorithms is highly simplified. The book emphasizes mathematical developments as well as their application to solving practical problems. A number of real world examples demonstrating the usefulness of the theory are included.

The book comprises selected papers presented at the International Conference on Wireless Communication (ICWiCOM), which is organized by D. J. Sanghvi College of Engineering’s Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. The book focuses on specific topics of wireless communication, like signal and image processing applicable to wireless domains, networking, microwave and antenna design, and telemedicine systems. Covering three main areas – networking, antenna designs and embedded systems applicable to communication – it is a valuable resource for postgraduate and doctoral students.
