The Readymades won universal acclaim by those who managed to acquire a copy, being dubbed one of 'the best Irish novels of the last decade.' It tells the story of a collection of friends who took part in the Yugoslavian wars of the 1990s, before going on to become celebrated artists. Its republication sees a novel whose story and characters take on the very forces so pertinent today: the reemergence of nationalism, civil war, refugees and the need for art to challenge any and all prejudices and pre-conceived notions of what it means to be an individual.

William and Sybille are a young couple who arrive in Berlin sometime at the end of the first decade of the 21st century. They move through the city, experience the vagaries of being in love and conceive a child but when a great disruption occurs they are forced to rely on each other in a world no longer recognisable, making them in turn strangers to one another. In The Trains of Europe we're introduced to a world without the ability to harness energy. Without electricity almost all aspects of life are seen anew, not least our ability to relate to one another - and our belief in progress. As the novel brings us out of a broken future toward a unified present, creating a puzzle for the reader to enjoy, we're introduced to three Norse deities. Their songs recount between the receding chapters how the development of train travel brought notions of progress and modernity, entropy and time's arrow, to a world hurtling toward catastrophe. Designed by Form & Konzept, the book has nine stamp illustrations by artist Adam Fearon.

About Trees considers our relationship with language, landscape, perception, and memory in the Anthropocene. The book includes texts and artwork by a stellar line up of contributors including Jorge Luis Borges, Andrea Bowers, Ursula K. Le Guin, Ada Lovelace and dozens of others. Holten was artist in residence at Buro BDP. While working on the book she created an alphabet and used it to make a new typeface called Trees. She also made a series of limited edition offset prints based on her Tree Drawings.

It is with great pleasure for BDP to announce the publication of Hanne Lippard's Nuances of No, the first comprehensive collection of the artist's text work. Over the last number of years Lippard has built up an impressive and equally idiosyncratic practice based at the meeting point of words, performance and visual art. Aphorisms, love-songs, voicemails, quotes and slogans lose or gain value depending on how they are re-arranged and performed - in Nuances of No Lippard reclaims language for her own end to try and overcome any overruling claim to authorship.

With this hybrid of a pocket grammar book and an artist's reflections on the more philosophical aspects of (German) language, Danish artist Stine Marie Jacobsen offers a critical, yet also hilarious linguistic guide to the throbbing and international cultural scene of Berlin. Here, the aspiring artist or curator will find useful advice for making herself understood in various typical professional, social and practical situations in Berlin. And others will find an interesting insight into a city that is over and over again announced to be the cultural nerve of Europe.
