Featuring positioning essays from and interviews with musician St Vincent, poet Eileen Myles, artist Chila Burman, choreographer Holly Blakey, filmmaker Sophie Fiennes, actor Lily Cole, comedian Sophie Duker, photographer Juno Calypso and more, Rickett's pioneering exploration of female identity, memory and the upheaval of the post-Thatcher years is revisited here - and remains as remarkable in the 21st century as it did three decades ago.

In Pursuit of a Wonderful Nothing is a fragmented odyssey of artistic survival and longing. Reconstructed through hand-drawn illustrations, artefacts and photographs, cult performance and autobiography, it traces the journey through the everyday theatre of Kim Noble's life. As his art world escapades spiral from a gallery in Helsinki to hardware stores in London and a desolate English beach, romance fizzes and reality unravels. Here, fantasy and fact tangle in hand-drawn chaos, and the book itself becomes an artefact-proof of an unreal real life. At once absurd and touching, Kim Noble's journey is less a memoir and more a treasure hunt through the weird tides of love, loneliness, and the art of staying afloat. And in the margins of the page lurks a sardonic cephalopod, who crumples the story with inky interruptions and astute commentary on the unfolding adventures.

Some men love each other. For others, love of something else gets between them. Pádraig Ó Tuama’s Love Between Men begins in the garden of Eden, recasting Adam, Eve, and God into voices both abrasive and intimate. Then, in seven deadly sonnets, the poet details his own experiences of exorcisms and gay reparative therapies, exploring desire with its promise and fear of fulfillment. These poems by turns, intelligent, funny, devastating, and explosive – consider time, the edges of empire, and the limits of the tongue. Here is rage paired with prayer, in punked up forms and broken sequences.Love Between Men celebrates and challenges love: of history, poetry, and language – and ultimately, of change.'There is something eternal but also completely now about this collection. It is sacred and profane: a benediction, a spell and a curse all in one' – Damien Barr

Journalist, writer, interviewer and memoirist Lynn Barber claims no skill in art herself but loves hanging out with artists - and has devoted much of her career to interviewing them. Beautifully illustrated and fizzing with stories from her forays into the world of art, A Little Art Education documents an enduring passion, and the friendships, feuds, and lessons-learnt from a life spent in pursuit of it.From the trials and tribulations of being a juror for the 2006 Turner Prize to dining at the Hotel Meurice with Salvador Dali's ocelot, and her enduring friendships with David Hockney and Tracey Emin, this beautifully illustrated book documents Lynn's unusual and inspiring journey from curious outsider to finding her place among some of the most admired artists of the last hundred years.Following the huge success of her memoir An Education, adapted into an Oscar-nominated film starring Carey Mulligan in 2009, A Little Art Education recalls the more recent chapters in Lynn Barber's fascinating life, fizzing with funny, insightful, and occasionally shocking stories from the epicentre of the art world and the great figures who inhabit it.

Absence, the third title in CHEERIO's acclaimed poetry series, is a book about nothing. Or nothings: losses, vacua, gaps. From the desolation at the heat-death of the universe to the impassable distance between two people talking, and from the trust exercise of walking in darkness to experiments on the vacuum, Absence searches for what's missing and what we never had.Starting with the problem of how to represent that that isn't there, and ending with the end of love, Absence takes in the ache for a vanished god, the permanently delayed doomsday of millenarian cults, and the overflowing life inside our seemingly empty buckets and stomachs.Ali Lewis's poems mirror, undermine, reframe and rephrase each other in a voice that feels as precise and scientific as is it playful and warm. Absence is both intricate and ambitious, comic and tragic. It is a book of restless curiosity and revelation.

Alfred Jarry's riotous, ground-breaking play, Ubu Roi was a sensation upon first staging. This modern adaptation, which formed the basis of a short film, Roi, directed by acclaimed author, Neil Bartlett, brings a modernist classic to a contemporary audience.A bonkers and hilarious new translation, Ubu Royale was produced during the fever dream of lockdown. It features bodily incident and function. It is gloriously chaotic but, as Neil Bartlett so rightly says, consistency is for losers.

In this shocking, and at times darkly comic, novel, a psychiatrist hired to write a short piece on Francis Bacon becomes obsessed with the artist, his life, and the characters who surrounded him. As he becomes consumed with the need to understand Bacon, and to create his own art, his grip on reality becomes increasingly tenuous, and he is haunted by disturbing figures. This short, bold piece of fiction, explores how the passion needed to create art can also destroy the artist.

In Pariah Genius, literary giant Iain Sinclair follows in the footsteps of photographer John Deakin, whose chronicles of Soho life - and the world of Francis Bacon and his friends - have so influenced our perception of that generation's work.In this bold fictionalisation, Sinclair enters the underworld of Deakin's life and imagination, pursuing his subject across continents, in dive bars, and bedrooms. The result is an engrossing, utterly unique portrait of a man who some felt was a fallen angel, and others, the devil himself.

Art is Magic is artist Jeremy Deller's attempt to tie up the key works of his career alongside the art, pop music, film, politics and history that have inspired his work. Much has been written about Deller over the decades but this is the first time he has pulled together all of his cultural touchstones. The book features work from across Deller's life and art and includes Sacrilege, the inflatable Stonehenge, the Iggy Pop Life Class, The Battle of Orgreave, a recreation of a confrontation from the Miners' Strike, bats (a subject in at least three of Deller's works), Andy Warhol (whom he met in 1986), rave culture, hen harriers pecking out the eyes of a Tory MP, and a giant Chameleon slide.Art is Magic gives us the most rigorous account of Deller and his work to date.

By turns tender and devastating, Mrs Jekyll contorts Stevenson's gothic classic in a sumptuous and shocking account of modern womanhood. Schoolteacher Rosy Winter is dying. Her husband Charlie offers all the relief he can. Rosy's sister-in-law, Sally, offers none. But Rosy feels something growing in her. A hard knot in her chest. Beyond the homeopathic remedies, the dinner party obligations, the snatched whispers on wards and in staffrooms, a force - murderous, feminine, feverish - is stirring within her...

Kitchen hymns are the songs sung at home, not in the chapel; in vernacular speech, not Latin. The poems in Padraig O Tuama's new collection are a form of hymnody that arise neither from belief nor devotion. A man asks himself if he believes in God and turns to language rather than the maker of language; an agnostic Jesus meets a curious Persephone at hell's exit; a mass for the end of the world is offered by some- one more interested in birds than in salvation. In registers of rage, eros and melody, towards nature, elegy and praise, Kitchen Hymns is a study in form and lyric address: the sights and sounds of a poem; the lungs of the world; skin touching skin; experience. Here are poems of originality and feeling - a provocation to thought, and an invocation of the forces that direct the strange, branching paths of our lives.

A personal book about love, loss, nature, depression and recovery, Greta Bellamacina's Who Will Make The Fire employs elemental metaphors - of wind, of dawn, of trees and fire - to explore the interior world of its author. This beautiful collection, published in association with New River Press, questions what it means to really live, with stillness and with fire, how to combat a digital world and to return to the earth. In these poems, Bellamacina asks us to allow the hidden circle of nature back into ourselves.

The much-anticipated sequel to Bacon in Moscow, Gilbert & George and the Communists charts daring art dealer James Birch's next implausible transcultural mission: introducing British art's most subversive duo to not only the creaking remnants of Soviet Russia, but to the steely frontier of a Maoist China well on its way to becoming a global superpower.Gilbert & George and the Communists is more than just a picaresque and deeply funny riot through art history: it is a first-hand account of how, just as one global giant died, another was born.

Here, a handful of buildings on the River Deben become a stage on which centuries unfold: church and quay, graveyard and marsh, the traces of smuggling, slavery, war and work lingering in the air. As Shand Kydd walks the familiar fifty‑minute circuit with his lurcher, he encounters a landscape alive with memory – Suffolk Punches and Black Poplars, otters, barn owls and vanished nightingales – and haunted by the stories of his own family. Ramsholt is both love letter and lament, a powerful meditation on memory, nature, and the importance of home.

James Birch has been a promoter of modern art for over thirty years and boasts a resume of exhibitions both throughout the UK and internationally. The first gallerist to show works by Grayson Perry and the neo-naturists, James was also a close friend of Francis Bacon, Gilbert & George, Denis Wirth-Miller and Genesis P-Orridge. Written with the journalist Michael Hodges – whose work has appeared in the Sunday Times, the Financial Times, the New Statesman and Esquire – Gilbert & George and the Communists is more than just a picaresque and deeply funny riot through art history: it is an account of a world unthinkably different to – and ever-present in - our own today.

Our guiding theme for 2027 will be memory. This could mean what we remember, what we forget, what we preserve and what changes with time. Memory might be personal or collective, inherited or imagined. Contributors might consider childhood memories, family histories, memories attached to food, music, sound, and smell, or the spaces that hold memories. Perhaps it means archives and forms of preservation, digital memory and nostalgia. Or it could mean forgetting and misremembering, and the ways in which memories are retold and reshaped over time. However they wish and to approach their piece in whatever form feels most appropriate — whether prose, poetry, essay. In this Edition, illustrated by Palestinian artist Sama Emad, four female authors from Gaza; Haya Abu Shammala, Nour al Saqqa, Hanan Habashi and Heba Hayek, separately explore the theme of Memory. They each re-visit the years before the Genocide –when being naughty meant only a hidden poster of Thierry Henry, a ‘borrowed’ family car, laziness or grumpiness. Now such innocence been destroyed, along with their houses and so many of their friends and family members. They all want to remember every detail –life before, life during, life after –and yet, on occasion, forget.
