This richly illustrated monograph is published within the context of Eternal Resonance, a major retrospective of Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu (1911–1975), a seminal figure in the 20th-century artistic circles in Turkey. Held across Dirimart’s Dolapdere and Pera galleries from December 2023 to February 2024, the exhibition brought together rarely seen works and archival material, shedding new light on the life and legacy of an artist whose influence continues to resonate. Eyüboğlu was not only a pioneering painter but also a celebrated poet and devoted educator. Blending Anatolian folk traditions with modernist aesthetics, his work defied boundaries between disciplines and mediums. This bilingual (Turkish–English) publication offers an in-depth look into his creative journey, contextualising his practice within Turkish art history and beyond. Eternal Resonance celebrates Eyüboğlu’s enduring commitment to art as a form of cultural memory, resistance, and renewal. With its thoughtful scholarship and carefully curated visuals, this monograph is an essential resource for anyone interested in discovering one of Turkey’s most influential and multifaceted modern artists.Text in English and Turkish.

Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s films, in which long takes and unusual viewpoints are used, betray the desire of the stillness and the shadows of playing the lead role. The commitment of his photographs to a profound imagination can be seen as the clue to success of his films. The photographs, which are identical to film frames and standing by themselves appear as pure compositions, transform elegy to elegance. This trilingual book published by Dirimart and printed using the K-Bind technique, opens up completely flat, allowing imagery to flow undisturbed across a double-page spread. It begins with a vivid excerpt from the screenplay of Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s movie Small Town (1997). With minimal accompanying text, the book’s multi-layered story is told through photographs alone. The book contains 100 panoramic photographs taken by Ceylan in various regions of rural Anatolia between 2003 and 2014.Text in English, French and Turkish.

Kipat—an anagram of the Turkish word 'kitap' (book)—was published on the occasion of Güçlü Öztekin’s exhibition Topsy-Turvy! Selpakla Gorili Bitirdim! at Dirimart Dolapdere (18 December 2017–21 January 2018). Gathering nearly all works produced between 2009 and 2017, the book offers the most extensive insight into the artist’s prolific practice. Much like Öztekin’s exhibitions and sketchbooks, Kipat resists explanation, placing the viewer in direct encounter with his fantastical imagery. Everyday objects and fleeting moments—a roll of toilet paper, a face, a glimmer of light—are transformed into scenes that recall cartoons, cinema, and dreamlike narratives.Designed without hierarchy or fixed sequence, the book embodies Öztekin’s emphasis on simplicity, disorder, and openness. Each copy is uniquely ordered and numbered by the artist, inviting readers into a world where daily life and the imagination of his alter ego, kaplankadilak, collide. A dialogue on painting, process, and the ordinary accompanies this journey.Text in English and Turkish.

Published on the occasion of Ses-li Harfler | Ses-siz Harfler at Dirimart (20 February–24 March 2019), this monograph presents the most comprehensive overview of Özlem Günyol and Mustafa Kunt’s collaborative practice to date, spanning 15 years of production. Living and working in Frankfurt since 2001, the artist duo has developed a body of work that explores geography, politics, language, and systems of measurement through meticulous processes of deconstruction and reconfiguration. The book brings together critical essays by Jörg Heiser, Banu Karaca, and Erden Kosova, as well as a conversation with Jakob Sturm and Felix Ruhöfer, offering multiple perspectives on the artists’ practice. An extensive “Works” section compiles their output from 2003 onward, tracing their investigations into political symbols, migration, belonging, and collective memory. With rigor and precision, Günyol and Kunt transform familiar objects and concepts, opening new possibilities for meaning, and offering courage and hope in re-imagining shared realities.Text in English and Turkish.

Published on the occasion of Karin Kneffel’s exhibition Haymatlos at Dirimart (13 November 2020–17 January 2021), this trilingual catalogue explores themes of memory, displacement, and belonging. The 19 paintings on view establish a dialogue between Germany and Turkey through the notion of heimatlos—statelessness—probing how the past is recalled, altered, or transformed, leaving ambiguous traces in the present. Kneffel engages with the legacies of three exiled figures who lived in Istanbul: architect Bruno Taut, sculptor Rudolf Belling, and designer Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky. Their iconic works—the Bosphorus house designed by Taut, Belling’s İnönü sculpture and Skulptur 49, and Schütte-Lihotzky’s pioneering Frankfurter Küche—reappear under Kneffel’s painterly veil of drops, bubbles, and brushstrokes, questioning whether the world is ever truly familiar. Enriched with an essay by Julia Voss, along with studio and installation views, the catalogue situates Haymatlos within Kneffel’s broader practice and her celebrated retrospective STILL in Germany.Text in English and Turkish and German.

100 - Munch’tan Sonra | After Munch accompanies Sarkis’ exhibition 85 Screams: After Munch held at Dirimart Dolapdere in 2023. Marking the artist’s 85th birthday, the book features photographic reproductions of 100 oil-on-paper works created between November 2014 and January 2015. Titled 100 Screams: After Munch, this powerful series draws inspiration from the iconic figure in Edvard Munch’s The Scream, an image that has haunted Sarkis since childhood and echoed throughout his oeuvre. Eschewing brushes, the artist applies white and red oil paints directly from the tube to paper, capturing the raw immediacy and velocity of a scream. Produced shortly after the works were made, the photographic reproduction by the artist emphasise their shifting presence over time and across geographies. Spanning the years from Sarkis’ birth in 1938 to the present and beyond, this autobiographical publication offers a visceral reflection on artistic memory, trauma, and transformation through one of modern art’s most enduring motifs.Text in English and Turkish.

About the Weather accompanied Canan Tolon’s second solo exhibition at Dirimart (23 November–24 December 2023) with the same title. The bilingual publication gathers Tolon’s large-scale works in rust and acrylic on canvas, created in 2023, alongside earlier pieces in the same technique. Her abstract compositions emerge through a process that embraces chance: metal fragments placed on canvas interact with water, air, and weather, generating unpredictable rust forms shaped by conditions beyond the artist’s control—humidity, pollution, temperature shifts, or wind. These works register environmental processes, functioning as both material traces and invitations to free association, constantly renewed in dialogue with the viewer. The volume also includes essays by art historian Berin Gölönü and curator Kevser Güler, who reflect on Tolon’s practice and the exhibition’s ironic title, which alludes to our tendency to avoid urgent concerns—such as the climate crisis—by resorting to “small talk” about the weather.Text in English and Turkish.

Published on the occasion of Albert Bitran’s first solo exhibition at Dirimart, Land of Shadows Land of Sky (3 May–2 June 2024), this trilingual catalogue presents a comprehensive selection of works created between 1956 and 2013 by one of the pioneering figures of post-war abstract expressionism in Paris. The book highlights Bitran’s enduring spatial sensibility and the fluid transitions between his different series, offering readers a deeper understanding of his unique visual language. Essays by art historian and critic Clotilde Scordia and poet, writer, and pianist Laure Cambau provide critical insights into Bitran’s practice and its evolution across decades. The publication also includes inventory numbers from the artist’s catalogue raisonné, to be released in 2026. Beyond mere chronology, it invites readers to engage with Bitran’s abstractions as dynamic reflections of light, space, and perception.Text in English, French and Turkish.

Behind It Something Intimate brings together a selection of İnci Eviner’s drawings and the poetic texts she wrote between 2023 and 2024. Known for her multidisciplinary practice—including drawing, video, performance, sculpture, and installation—Eviner invites readers into an intimate dialogue between image and word. Each text responds to a drawing, revealing the inner landscapes that inform her evolving visual language. Drawing lies at the core of Eviner’s artistic process, serving both as a means of unconscious expression and a space for conceptual inquiry. Her lines trace the tensions between the personal and the collective, the psychic and the political. Through this artist’s book, she extends her creative process into a shared textual space, inviting readers to engage with her world. Enriched by the artist’s own design concept, the book explores how drawing can challenge dominant forms of social, historical, and discursive representation.

This artist’s book features a selection of Çağla Ulusoy’s abstract paintings distinguished by her unique visual language and colour palette, accompanied by collages that reflect the processes behind her practice. In her paintings, Ulusoy reshapes lived experiences from various cultures and traditions through an abstract visual language, infusing them with subconscious memories and imagery. Her collages, on the other hand, re-imagine her works within a hybrid narrative and fantastical universe, incorporating adorned figures and scenes. Comprising 83 selected paintings — which Ulusoy creates with materials such as acrylic, oil paint, sand, and wax and in which harmony and friction coexist on the same surface and the balance between colour and form is constantly challenged — and the collages accompanying them, the book deciphers the artist’s multilayered and uncanny visual language.

This monograph offers a comprehensive exploration of the life and work of Jak İhmalyan (1922–1978), published on the occasion of his exhibition at Dirimart Pera. Tracing his journey from Istanbul to cities across the Eastern Bloc, the book sheds light on an artist who remained committed to painting despite exile, political pressure, and changing geographies. İhmalyan emerged as a promising young painter of Armenian origin before fleeing Turkey in 1949 due to his involvement with the Communist Party. The publication brings together an extensive selection of works from family, private, and institutional collections, presenting İhmalyan’s visual language within the context of his ideological beliefs and international life. His paintings, created across Beirut, Warsaw, Beijing, and Moscow, reflect both personal conviction and a strong social vision. This richly illustrated volume invites a new generation of viewers to rediscover an overlooked figure of modern art and reconsider his place in cultural history.Text in English and Turkish.

Undone explores 52 unrealised projects by Ayşe Erkmen, offering a rare glimpse into the conceptual force of works that remained unbuilt. Often conceived for competitions or public contexts, these projects—halted by spatial, political, or logistical constraints—reveal Erkmen’s artistic depth through sketches, renderings, and notes. Rather than viewing these ideas as failures, the book highlights their significance as powerful, stand-alone conceptual works. With texts by Friedrich Meschede and Cem İleri, Undone reflects on the meaning of realisation in contemporary art, challenging the notion that only completed works define an artist’s legacy. Erkmen emerges not only as an installation artist but as a thinker who engages deeply with space, form, and society. Celebrating intention and imagination, Undone presents unrealised art as fertile ground for rethinking public space and possibility.
