In a culture enamored with youth and beauty, the 50th birthday is often seen as a death sentence…in more ways than one. It’s easy to see why…what was once perky is now droopy. What’s trending now trumps wisdom. Good health is waning. And, after years of putting others first, many find they are lonely, depressed and lack meaningful work.

On the eve of her 49th birthday, Laurie Russell stood before a dark path, struggling to find purpose and joy. It was do or die, and it scared her. Early one morning, (because she couldn’t sleep…again), she asked God, “Why am I still here? What is it you want me to do?”

“Focus on regaining your health – physically, relationally, emotionally and spiritually – and then write about it.”

So the journey began.

Journey to 50 shares the real-life steps and tools Russell used to regain the joy in her life and to see age as a privilege. Her book covers:

It’s time to reevaluate our life, sit before God and plan out our next journey.

Let the celebrating begin!

God takes great delight in creating unique individuals, so why do we feel the need to conform our parenting styles? Rebellious Parenting invites parents to recognize that conventional wisdom is not always the best route to success. This book will help parents find the courage and creativity to challenge cultural norms and individualize their parenting so each of their children can thrive.

How and why influence is gained and maintained has undergone a fundamental transformation.

Many contemporary thinkers have sensed a change in the air – a movement away from some of the deep seated leadership patterns established over the last several decades. Among these patterns, Miller illustrates the concept of influence: the underlying, foundational values of its traditional definition; how that definition has affected society; and how a new definition with new values can produce positive change for individuals, communities, businesses, and cultures.

The author shows that influence based on Position, Possessions, and Pedigree produces nothing more than the status quo, a static semblance of success, while influence based on Community, Character, and Choice lifts leadership to the level of productive, organic, and lasting change.

In Naked Prayers, singer-songwriter Mara Measor shares a series of authentic prayers through words, doodles and songs. Imagine the book of Psalms penned in New York City, that the writers liked to doodle, and that they had access to a professional Manhattan recording studio to lay down these songs of intimate meditation.

When starting a prayer room on her college campus, Measor encountered many students who would confess with dismay, “I’m not good at praying.” In this book Measor fights the notion of “bad prayers” by suggesting that prayer is simply about getting naked before God: no frills, no pretend, just honest confessions to a loving creator. Her doodles tell the story of an earnest sojourner following God through a big city, and her evocative songs take you along the ride.

There are a million and one books on prayer floating around Christian circles, but according to Measor, “This is not a how-to-pray book, this is a how-I-have-really-prayed book.”

Naked Prayers contains 86 prayers taken from 13 months of Measor’s life, and is framed by four stages:

Nearly every human on the planet learns to walk as a toddler and run shortly thereafter. Many go on to run recreationally or even competitively, but never learn to fully utilize their bodies’ potential. Kevin Everett provides a path to create more mindful and purposeful walking, running, and ultimately moving throughout life toward personal health empowerment.

The Heart of Running takes the reader on a journey to discover the “runner’s high” or “flow state.” That sense of purpose and mindful motion gives anyone the edge needed to complete the marathon, competition, steep hill or even simple walk with a stroller in tow with better physical performance and metaphysical benefits. Once a runner, walker, athlete, parent or child learns to harness and maintain that edge, a passion is built to attain a constant and reliable form of self-satisfaction. The Heart of Running places the reader on a path to achieve the runner’s high every time.

The tender moments of both departing and returning soldiers with their families touch us in powerful and individual ways. The photos and videos tell a story of a happy homecoming or an anxious goodbye. In viewing them, America gets to share a solitary moment of emotion with the couple, and we connect with them in distinctly personal ways.

But what happens after the hug? What happens after the cameras disappear?

Mike Schindler tells the stories that the videos don’t share and gives perspective to better understand Veterans and their families. U.S. Veterans in the Workforce addresses the unique challenges of returning vets: the battles with medical issues, relationship demands, financial hardships and unemployment. But most importantly, it celebrates their victories: couples and families finding new meaning in their life after the military, persevering and overcoming personal challenges.

U.S. Veterans in the Workforce sheds light on the American heroes that come home to new heroic endeavors – the ones that make America worth fighting for.

There is an unnamed feeling that haunts most men. It’s a sense that there’s more to life than the day-to-day existence we’re living now. But the culture of this world—ambition and greed and fear—teaches us to ignore that feeling. Our culture nudges us toward isolation and insecurity, boredom and fatigue, selfishness and survival. It teaches us to keep our heads down, to follow the system, to man up and power through—because that''s what we men are supposed to do. So we silence our questions—Is this really all there is? Wasn’t I made for more?

But we are designed for more.

The universe''s Inventor designed us like he designed the world: with passion and precision and purpose. He made us for confidence and significance, joy and relationship. He made us to be part of something massive and majestic, to contribute to his work of remaking the world. He made us to play vital parts in his Kingdom. But the one ruling this world now is a vicious enemy, hell-bent on keeping us from becoming the men we’re meant to become, and from doing the things we’re meant to do. This enemy spins lies that convince us into distraction and dependence—on alcohol, drugs, pornography, and success-at-all-cost.

Can we see past these lies? Can we begin living the way we’re meant to live?

Jesus said, "I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of." (MSG, John 10:10) He said that about us.

Invention is an invitation to join a band of renegades and revolutionaries, change-makers and troublemakers—men who don’t accept the world as it is, because they know they’re made for something better. It’s a guide to living with the depth and purpose God made us for. It will help you see the lies that obscure God’s intention for you and reconnect with God’s design for your life.

Is this really all there is? No. There’s so much more. Come and see.

Workplace disengagement plagues many organizations across the globe, frequently leading to low productivity and workplace morale. This issue edges on epidemic status, with less than one third of employees in the U.S. having reported a sense of engagement at work. Similarly, only 28 percent of employees feel as though their role at work gives them a sense of purpose. Organizations that find and implement solutions to these problems, however, create a major competitive advantage while simultaneously improving the quality of life for employees.

In this supplement to his latest book, The Purpose Effect, Dan Pontefract metaphorically examines the city of Detroit as both an example of the decline of purpose in the workplace and its potential to rebound and mend. There is hope for even the most disengaged organization, but only if the individuals who make up its culture are willing to find answers within themselves, dedicating their efforts to make a positive change.
