In the precious garland of the Loire castles, where the art of the Renaissance found its most beautiful French expression, served by landscapes sung by all the poets, Chenonceau is probably the most admired jewel, the most appreciated. The human scale of the château's proportions, the ingenuity of its arrangements, the unique poetry of the place, a river that a castle seems to cross with great strides to pass from one bank to another... so much beauty attracts lovers from all over the world.

From the mythical De Dion Bouton Type K1 to the Delahaye, from the Jeep Willys to the combi Volkswagen, from the Mercedes Benz to the Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500, from the Aston Martin DB7 to the Bugatti Veyron 16.4, and from the Austin Mini to the Range Rover.A hundred years of innovation, inventiveness and triumphs are condensed in this book, which reads as easily as a novel, and is illustrated with a rich and rare iconography.

This sumptuous book invites you to follow the course of the Nile and Egyptian history on board a floating historical monument, the Steam Ship Sudan. At 100 years old, and made of wood and copper, it is the last steamship still cruising in Upper Egypt and the only survivor of a flotilla established by Sir Thomas Cook at the beginning of the 20th century.Illustrious personalities from British and American high society travelled on board this prestigious ship - archaeologists, diplomats, actors... and writers, including Agatha Christie who drew inspiration from it for Death on the Nile.

This book presents the richness, diversity and strength of the work of the most famous street art artist in the world... and yet nobody knows his identity. We are invited to follow the evolution of the artist from England to the United States, France, Israel and the Ukraine, and through more than a hundred emblematic works, all explained. This is the original Catalog Raisonné of the Banksy Museum, in which all these works are reproduced in their urban contexts, allowing the general public to discover them in a realistic way and to grasp their strength, including those that have been stolen or defaced and no longer exist.

D*Face, born Dean Stockton, is a British artist known for his distinctive blend of pop art and punk culture in street art. Drawing inspiration from American comics, he creates street art and exhibits globally, contributing to the rise of contemporary street art alongside artists like OBEY and BANKSY.The purpose of this book is to give a wider insight into the practice of working within the streets and the public domain. What people most often see of street art is actually the middle point of an artwork’s lifespan, the clean image of a recently finished mural or a freshly peeled sticker but that’s not the whole picture. Not only is there a whole process leading up to the creation of a mural but there also exists a journey of change after work has been left to the streets. Paint fades, tags appear, stickers peel and crack - all these are part and parcel of what it means to work within the street. This book aims to tell that story.

La Manufacture Cogolin, a weaver of hand-made rugs established in 1924 in a village near Saint-Tropez, is rich with a traditional craftsmanship particularly sought out by a clientele looking for authenticity and quality. Acquired by the visionary textile engineer Jean Lauer in 1928, La Manufacture Cogolin has grown remarkably from the 1930s onward, thanks to early collaborations with well-known designers such as Jules Leleu, Christian Bérard, Jean-Michel Frank, Sir David Hicks and artists such as Jean Cocteau. This fully illustrated art book dives into what has made the Cogolin house special for a century. Mixing unpublished archives (letters, photographs, watercolours), lively texts suited to a wide audience, and testimonies from women working in the historical workshop, from contemporaries, and from illustrious customers. Following a chronological approach, this book describes the manufacture’s economic history, shedding light on its rebirth in the 21st century, while placing it in the history of the Decorative Arts of the 19th and 20th centuries, and describes the key elements of this recognised French craftsmanship.

A mystical, artistic, and poetic journey into the heart of the Domaine des Étangs in Charente Limousine, a familial domain hidden among quiet ponds, now turned into a five-star hotel. At last, a place of rejuvenation out of the world and out of time which allows us to reconnect with nature.Structured around the five elements, the book first explores the domain’s landscape and waters before revealing how the hotel is conceived around the three other elements — fire, air and ether.Text in English and French.

"So far, there haven’t been many women who have dared to dream on a truly megalomaniac scale—and see those dreams through to completion." — Niki de Saint Phalle. The story of the Tarot Garden, created by Niki de Saint Phalle (1930–2002), unfolds like a fairy tale. For the first time, this book documents the extraordinary adventure of its construction, from 1978 to 1998. It all began when, at the age of twenty-five, Niki de Saint Phalle visited Gaudí’s Park Güell and decided to give form to her lifelong “desire for grandeur.” The result was the creation of twenty-one monumental and esoteric sculptures spread across two hectares in Tuscany’s Maremma region—an artistic interpretation of the Tarot’s major arcana, a system that had long captivated her imagination. The Tarot Garden stands within a visionary lineage of fantastical environments, alongside the Palais Idéal of Ferdinand Cheval, Gaudí’s Park Güell, Alain Bourbonnais’s Fabuloserie, and the Gardens of Bomarzo in Lazio. Enriched with rare archival material, this book reveals the behind-the-scenes story of Niki de Saint Phalle’s magnum opus, shaped by Etruscan heritage, local craftsmanship, and rituals drawn from cultures around the world. "Seeing the garden Gaudí built in Barcelona changed my life. From that moment on, my path would be a slow apprenticeship—until the day I, too, would be capable of creating a magnificent work like his, a place of joy." — Niki de Saint Phalle.Text in English, Italian and French.
