Mehrsprachigkeit ist einerseits Phänomen, andererseits Forschungsfeld und als Zeichen fortschreitender gesellschaftlicher Diversifizierung in aller Munde. Der vorliegende Band setzt die Mehrsprachigkeit in eine Beziehung zur interkulturellen Kommunikation und zur Sprachvermittlung aus einer Perspektive des Deutschen als Fremdsprache und Zweitsprache. Die Beiträge nehmen unterschiedliche Institutionen der Bildung in den Blick und betrachten besondere Formen und Herausforderungen des Spracherwerbs für Fremd-, Zweit- und Herkunftssprachenlerner_innen. Dabei muss systematisch auch die Rolle kultureller Faktoren betrachtet werden. Insofern ist eine Besonderheit des Bandes, dass die Außenperspektive auf das Deutsche als Gegenstand des Sprach- und Kulturlernens in zahlreichen Beiträgen berücksichtigt wird.

The ENTEP Project, funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, has been initiated with the aim of improving the quality of education and teaching, enhancing teaching practices and further developing educational science in Russia and China. This book contains the results of this project. It unites general considerations with regard to the establishment of a general teaching and learning policy on the organizational level and more detailed reflections on teaching and learning, especially in times of digital education. Due to the international setting of the project, the volume delivers an insight into very different approaches, i. a. Italy, Great Britain, Portugal, Germany, and in particular Russia and China.

Virtual-Reality-Technologie birgt große Potenziale, Forschung und Lehre geisteswissenschaftlicher Fächer nachhaltig zu bereichern. Ihr Einsatz in Hochschulen ist dabei längst nicht mehr nur eine technologische Fragestellung. Mit dem Medium Virtual Reality werden theorie- und methodenbezogene disziplinäre Praktiken aus einer neuen Perspektive befragt. VR wird schon heute für außergewöhnliche experimentelle Settings und zur Wissenserschließung bzgl. neuartiger multimodaler Erfahrungen eingesetzt. Die Beiträge des Sammelbands geben einen Einblick in aktuelle Studien diverser Disziplinen an verschiedenen Hochschulen Europas. Der Band leistet damit einen Impuls zur Nutzung und Untersuchung immersiver Technologien in digitalen Forschungs-, Lern- und Lebenswelten.

Linguistic landscape is a recent area of scholarly interest. This phenomenon rapidly gained attention in various disciplines of academic research, including media, tourism, economics, sociology, geography and pedagogy. In this context, previous papers have been approaching linguistic landscape from several theoretical, empirical and analytical perspectives. By employing both quantitative and qualitative methods, the main axis of this study is built upon three interrelated research objects. The first part of the study investigates the sociolinguistic composition of Bremen in Germany. It is also revealing the impact of linguistic landscape signs on promoting second language (L2) learners’ communicative competence in general and L2 learners of German in particular. And finally, the study is evaluating the most pertinent language teaching approach and/or method for integrating linguistic landscape signs in adult L2 acquisition environments in general and German educational contexts in particular.
