   Lustfylld vetenskap!

   Boken är en helt fantastisk genomgång av både mänsklighetens och våra närmaste släktingar bland djurens förhållanden till sex, från våra tidiga förfäder för miljontals år sedan och till idag. Boken beskriver likheter och skillnader mellan könen, både beträffande anatomi och psyke och hur vi människor utvecklats från fyrfota trädklättrare till de vi är idag. Författarna lägger fram massor av bevis som visar att både män och kvinnor, liksom våra närmaste släktingar, schimpanser och bonobos, egentligen är polygama, d.v.s. att vi egentligen borde ha många sexpartners.

   Mycket intressant för den som är intresserad av vårt ursprung ur evolutionsbiologiskt perspektiv. Framför allt ger boken en antydan om att vårt släkte inte alltid levt efter de monogama och patriarkala samlevnadsformer som är förhärskande i vår del av världen. Författarna radar upp massor med indicier på att vi människor, liksom våra närmaste släktingar, shimpanser och bonobos, egentligen är polygama till vår natur och att patriarkatet uppstod i samband med att våra förfäder lämnade nomadlivet för att bli bofasta när de började odla jorden. Detta ledde till att kvinnornas sexuella beteenden kom att styras av männen. Och kanske vore ett polygamt matriarkat ett mycket bättre alternativ? Detta förekommer ju faktiskt i vissa mindre populationer än idag och där är våldtäkter, hustrumisshandel och svartsjuka okända begrepp!
