Dr. Sharon Tettegah is Director for the Center for Black Studies Research at UC Santa Barbara. Prior to joining UCSB, she was the Program Chair of Digital Environments for Learning, Teaching and Agency in the College of Education at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. She has held an appointment in Cognitive Neuroscience in Bio-Intelligence at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology and at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA). Her research centers on the intersection of STEM leaning, emotions, equity, and social justice. Dr. Tettegah has authored several books, including series volumes for Elsevier’s Emotions and Technology book series. Dorothy L. Espelage, Ph.D., is an Edward William Gutgsell & Jane Marr Gutgsell Endowed Professor and Hardie Scholar of Education, in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She is an University Scholar and has fellow status in Division 17 (Counseling Psychology) and recent recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Prevention Science of the American Psychological Association. She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Indiana University in 1997. She has conducted research on bullying, homophobic teasing, sexual harassment, dating violence, and gang violence for the last 20 years. As a result, she presents regularly at regional, national, and international conferences and is author on over 120 peer-reviewed journal articles and 25 chapters. She is Associate Editor of the Journal of Counseling Psychology, Immediate Past Vice-President of Division E (Counseling/Human Development) of the American Educational Research Association, and co-Director of the National Partnership to End Interpersonal Violence. She has presented thousands of workshops and in-service training seminars for teachers, administrators, counselors, and social workers across the U.S.
