The Isles explores themes of mobility, empire, climate change, disease, linguistic diversity, religion, and the nature of political power and resistance as they have shaped the history of Britain and Ireland.
Alastair Bellany is Professor of History at Rutgers University. He has written extensively on the political culture of seventeenth-century England, and is currently working on the impact of climatic variability and unseasonable weather in Britain and Ireland during the Little Ice Age, c.1580-1720.
