    Beskrivning

Stress and The Brain: Evidence from Molecular Mechanisms to Interventions and Therapies is a comprehensive exploration of how stress affects the brain at a molecular level and its broader implications for mental and neurological health. The book delves into the mechanisms by which stress triggers changes in brain function, including the activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, synaptic plasticity alterations, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, and mitochondrial dysfunction. It examines how these molecular processes contribute to conditions such as neurodegeneration, anxiety, depression, and other stress-related disorders. Furthermore, the book provides an in-depth analysis of current therapeutic interventions, both pharmacological and behavioral, as well as natural antidotes that aim to mitigate the adverse effects of stress on the brain. By synthesizing evidence from cutting-edge research, this book offers valuable insights for scientists, clinicians, and mental health professionals seeking to understand and address the complex interplay between stress and brain health.

    • In-Depth Molecular Mechanism: It delves into the intricate biological processes by which stress impacts brain functions, focusing on processes like epigenetics, oxidative stress, and neuroinflammation
    • Translational Focus (Connecting Molecular Insights to Treatment): By understanding the molecular mechanisms through which stress affects the brain, researchers can develop targeted therapies for treating conditions such as neurodegeneration, anxiety, and depression
    • Holistic Therapies: It emphasizes a comprehensive approach to managing stress-related brain health issues by integrating various therapeutic strategies, including pharmacological, behavioral, and natural antidotes, ensuring a more effective and personalized treatment plan

    Mer om författaren

Dr. Nasrollah Moradikor is currently the research director and principal investigator at the International Center for Neuroscience Research in Tbilisi, Georgia. Dr. Nasrallah's research program is dedicated to developing interventions for the prevention and treatment of neurological disorders. His team investigates the molecular mechanisms and therapeutics of brain disorders, including Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases, employing both clinical and experimental models. In 2021, Dr. Nasrollah founded a new community platform named “Neuroscience Network” to support and develop neuroscience in the world. He currently serves as an editor, editorial board member and section editor of several reputed journals in the field of neuroscience. Dr. Chinna Orish is an MBBS graduate with a PhD in Anatomy and is a Senior Faculty member at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in Neurotoxicology at the National Center for Toxicological Research, USA, from 2016 to 2017. She is the founder of Women in Neuroscience and the Youth Neuroscience Association of Nigeria, where she is dedicated to empowering young minds and promoting gender equality in the field of neuroscience. Additionally, she serves as the lead investigator at the Neuro-Provictoire Research Laboratory, spearheading pioneering research initiatives. She coordinates the Neuroscience Group at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, significantly contributing to the academic and research environment. Her active involvement in international scientific communities is evident through her memberships in prestigious organizations such as the International Society of Neurochemistry, the American Society of Neurochemistry, the Society for Neuroscience, and the Neuroscience Society of Nigeria. These affiliations reflect her commitment to staying at the forefront of global developments in neuroscience. Her research focuses on understanding sexual dimorphism in the molecular mechanisms of heavy metal-induced environmental toxicants in neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental disorders, using both animal and Drosophila models. Her work has also shed light on the potential therapeutic roles of natural products in mitigating the adverse effects of environmental toxins on the nervous system. This research is crucial as it bridges the gap between basic neuroscience and practical therapeutic applications, offering hope for new treatments and preventative strategies in neurodegenerative diseases. Her expertise is also recognized in the academic publishing world, where she serves as an editor for several prestigious journals, including the American Journal of Psychiatry and Neuroscience, the Journal of Life Neuroscience (NeuroLife), the British Journal of Medicine and Medical Research, the Journal of Human Anatomy, and Clinical and Experimental Anatomy. Chinna's contributions to neuroscience have been acknowledged through numerous awards from reputable organizations, including the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) and the International Society for Neurochemistry (ISN). These accolades highlight her impact on the field and her ongoing commitment to advancing neuroscience research and education. She has several publications in reputable journals, contributing valuable knowledge and insights to the scientific world.
