    Beskrivning

Introduction to Analytical Voltammetry: From the Fundamentals to the State-of-the-Art provides a comprehensive overview and introduction to both the fundamental background and applied, advanced topics in voltammetry applied in analytical chemistry. The book begins with the basics, including equilibrium electrochemistry, Nernst Equation, electrode kinetics, and cyclic voltammetry, covering the interaction at the electrode interface, as well as how to effectively interpret the data. It proceeds to detail the different aspects of electroanalytical methodology, including various voltametric (stripping, pulse, etc.) and amperometric techniques, with detailed treatments of electrochemical sensors used for the sensing in diverse fields.

Subsequent chapters then introduce the state-of-the-art in electroanalytical voltammetry, with an emphasis on 2D material electrochemistry, forensic electrochemistry, sonoelectroanalysis, wearable technology, gas sensors, environmental science, biosensors, circular economy electrochemistry and additive manufacturing electrochemistry. Also featured is a timely chapter on the potential for AI and machine learning techniques for analytical voltammetry. The book is written primarily for advanced undergraduate or graduate students and their tutors in chemistry who need to understand how voltametric techniques are utilized for the study of electrochemical systems and the development of analytical methods.

    • Offers a comprehensive, introductory treatment of analytical voltammetry
    • Provides a complementary reference text for electrochemistry focused courses
    • Addresses voltammetry topics of growing interest, including the circular economy, wearable sensors, 3D printed sensors, and its use in forensic analysis
    • Covers key topics and the latest developments, including the utilization of AI and machine learning
    • Presents a strong focus on contemporary applications of analytical voltammetry

    Mer om författaren

Robert D. Crapnell achieved both his MChem and PhD from the University of Hull, United Kingdom, respectively, in 2014 and 2018. He is currently Technical Facility Manager for Electrochemistry at Manchester Metropolitan University, United Kingdom. His research is predominantly focused on fundamental electrochemistry, additive manufacturing, sustainability, bespoke filament production and electroanalysis. Elena Bernalte holds a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry (2006) and MSc in Environmental Science (2010) at University of Extremadura (Spain), and she obtained her PhD in Analytical Chemistry (2013) at the same University. She is currently a Senior Research Associate at Manchester Metropolitan University where her focus is on electroanalysis within both forensic and environmental samples, additive manufacturing, and sustainability.Craig E. Banks holds a Personal Chair in Chemistry at Manchester Metropolitan University and has published more than 600 papers (h-index: 101; citations: 42K), also 4 books, 20 book chapters, whilst being the lead inventor on 21 patents. Craig has spun out 2 companies from his research and was awarded the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Harrison–Meldola Memorial Prize (2011) for his contributions to the understanding of carbon materials, in particular graphene and its application as an electrode material. He was awarded a Royal Society of Chemistry Tilden Prize (2023) for his outstanding contributions to electrochemistry through pioneering additive manufacturing and also the Royal Society of Chemistry L. S. Theobald Lectureship (2024) having demonstrated a significant contribution to the development or application of analytical chemistry. Banks is known for his expertise in fundamental and applied aspects of electrochemistry, being involved in the significant development of next generation screen-printing electrodes and more recently the use of additive manufacturing.
