    Beskrivning

Sustainable Biocomposites for Key Industrial Applications: Properties, Challenges and Opportunities provides an application-orientated approach that explores the usage of plant fiber reinforced bio-derived polymer-based composites over various industrial sectors. Key topics covered include morphological aspects, manufacturing processes, and their effect on overall performance, the structure-property relationship, defects and failure mechanisms, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI), including machine learning (ML). The book also discusses the historical background, current trends, new developments, and key challenges and future perspectives that highlight environmental sustainability through recyclability and re-use linking to the circular economy.

Finally, the book explores the bio-fillers/bio-plasticizer-based revolution in materials formulation and its socio-economic impact. It will be a valuable reference resource for all those who are involved in the design and development of sustainable composite materials that will ensure their expanded usage in high-demanding, lightweight and semi-structural applications.

    • Focuses on developing biobased composites from recycled polymers and sustainable/renewable feedstocks for expanded usage in high-demanding lightweight/semi structural applications
    • Discusses environmental performance using advanced characterization techniques and their end-of-life scenarios through lifecycle assessment (LCA)
    • Provides information on raw materials extraction, processing technologies, use, and disposal relating to the environmental performances of biocomposites
    • Covers key industrial sectors, including the automotive, aerospace, medical, and food packing industries
    • Highlights the valorization of agricultural residue and use for value added products that contribute to the circular/bioeconomy
