    Beskrivning

Technological Applications of Ionic Liquids serves as a comprehensive guide to the applications of ionic liquids (ILs) as green alternatives to hazardous chemicals in various industrial processes. The book details the unique physical and chemical properties of ionic liquids and why this makes them invaluable in many crucial chemical processes and techniques such as organic synthesis, biomass processing, nanotechnology, pharmaceuticals, energy storage, and separation technologies. Each chapter delves into specific applications, detailing synthesis methods, environmental benefits, and challenges, thereby serving as a valuable guide for both academic and industrial researchers.

In addition, the book also addresses the toxicity and sustainability of ILs, paving the way for their safe integration into future sustainable chemical practices and technologies.

    • Explores the possible applications of ionic liquids in bio-based materials, including biorefinery technologies
    • Details the applications of ionic liquids to promote sustainability in chemical processes as both solvents and catalysts
    • Includes real-world examples of cutting-edge research involving ionic liquids across industries, including full methodology and troubleshooting advice
    • Contains process diagrams and experimental design advice for implementing ionic liquids into chemical processes

    Mer om författaren

Dr. Maliha Uroos completed her PhD in synthetic organic chemistry in 2012 from the University of Nottingham under HEC Faculty Development Scholarship. She was awarded EPSRC post-doctoral fellowship (2012-13) at the University of Nottingham, UK. She was appointed Lecturer at University of the Punjab in 2007 and currently working as Associate Professor (2020 to date) and Director, Centre for Research Ionic Liquid, School of Chemistry, University of the Punjab. Her main focus is synthetic organic chemistry and research interests include synthesis and applications of ionic liquids, synthesis of biologically active molecules, sustainable energy production and development of green processes for setting up bio-refinery from agricultural waste. Sadia Naz is currently a PhD student at Centre for Research Ionic Liquid, School of Chemistry, University of the Punjab (2018 to onwards) and is working as research assistant in HEC NRPU project with Dr. Maliha Uroos (2019 to onwards). She has publications in international journals and presented her work in various international and national conferences. Her research interests include synthetic organic chemistry, ionic liquids, conversion of agricultural waste materials into valuable platform chemicals. Azmat Mehmood Asim obtained his M.Phil degree at the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, Pakistan, and completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry degree from School of Chemistry, University of the Punjab Lahore, Pakistan under the supervision of Dr. Maliha Uroos. He visited the Department of Chemical Engineering, Imperial College London for his partial PhD research under the supervision of Prof. J. P. Halle He worked on various projects involving the synthesis of ionic liquids and a variety of their applications in green technologies.
