    Jean-Louis Salager is Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering at the Universidad de Los Andes in Merida, Venezuela. He is internationally recognized for his pioneering work in surfactant-oil-water systems and formulation science. With over five decades of research and teaching experience, he has significantly contributed to the creation and development of the Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Difference (HLD) concept.Ronald Márquez earned his Ph.D. in Applied Sciences from the Universidad de Los Andes, Venezuela, under the mentorship of Dr. Jean-Louis Salager. His doctoral research centered on the interfacial rheological properties of surfactant-oil-water systems. He completed postdoctoral fellowships at North Carolina State University, working on transforming textile waste into biobased building blocks, and at ESPCI Paris in collaboration with TotalEnergies, focusing on bio-oil/heavy oil interfaces for marine transportation fuels. Dr. Márquez's research interests include interfaces and emulsions, biofuels, interfacial and bulk rheology, surfactants, and sustainable materials. He has authored numerous scientific papers and serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Surfactants and Detergents. His professional affiliations include the American Oil Chemists' Society (AOCS) and the American Chemical Society (ACS), where he contributes to the Industry & Communication Committees. Dr. Márquez has been recognized with several awards, including the ENFL American Chemical Society Young Investigator Spotlight Award (2023) and the AOCS Surfactants and Detergents Division's American Cleaning Institute Distinguished Paper Award twice (2019, 2023). Jesús F. Ontiveros is a Maître de Conférences (Associate Professor) at the National Chemistry School of Lille, France (ENSCL-Centrale Lille Institute), within the UMR 8181–UCCS (Unité de Catalyse et Chimie du Solide). He has a robust background in formulation science, specializing in surfactant and oil characterization. His research focuses on surfactant characterization, and studies in phase inversion, foams and microemulsions, particularly for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and emulsions in cosmetics, energy and other fields.
