    Beskrivning

Plant Tissue Culture, 5th Edition, is a rigorously updated edition that serves as a critical reference for advanced research in plant biotechnology and tissue culture methodologies. This comprehensive volume provides an in-depth exploration of essential techniques, from the preparation of molar solutions and the dissolution of kinetins in stock solutions to the application of cutting-edge CRISPR/Cas9 and RNA interference (RNAi) technologies. This edition features a series of experimental protocols that explore key principles of plant tissue culture, utilizing a diverse array of plant materials. Each experiment is designed to reinforce theoretical concepts while providing practical applications relevant to contemporary research. The text thoroughly addresses the underlying mechanisms of gene editing and RNAi, detailing their integration into plant cell and tissue culture systems. As advancements in sequencing technologies have exponentially increased the availability of plant genomic data, this book emphasizes the significance of functional genome analysis and genetic transformation processes. It explores how these methodologies can be employed to investigate the relationship between genome sequences and phenotypic expression, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of crop traits. Key topics include the design and optimization of sgRNAs for Cas9 and Cas12, the exploration of alternative Cas platforms, and the methodologies for gene editing detection, alongside an examination of plant secondary metabolites and their roles in plant physiology. For over 30 years, *Plant Tissue Culture* has been an authoritative resource for researchers and students in plant sciences, providing the essential knowledge and techniques necessary to advance laboratory practices and deepen the understanding of plant cellular structures and functions.

    • Fully revised and updated throughout, ensuring latest techniques and practices are included
    • Provides fundamental principles, methods and techniques in plant cell, tissue and organ culture that can be applied to all crop plants, including agronomic crops, horticulture and forestry crops for germplasm improvement
    • Guides readers from lab setup to supplies, stock solution and media preparation, explant selection and disinfestations, and experimental observations and measurement

    Mer om författaren

Sunghun Park is a Professor in the Department of Horticulture and Natural Resources at Kansas State University, United States. He earned his PhD in Plant Physiology from Texas A&M University in 1995. His research focuses on gene function analysis, comparative genome-wide transcriptional profiling, and redox-mediated plant adaptation to abiotic stress and physiological disorders in crops. He has established Agrobacterium-mediated transformation systems in multiple crop species to investigate the genetic basis of plant phenotypes. With more than 30 years of experience in plant tissue culture and genetic transformation, Dr. Park combines fundamental studies in plant cell physiology with applied research aimed at improving crop productivity and nutritional quality through genomic and biotechnological approaches.
