Beskrivning
Solution and Interfacial Characteristics of Surfactants and Polymers and Their Industrial Applications provides a comprehensive overview of the fundamental principles governing the solution, surface, and interfacial behavior of surfactants and polymers. The book explains how molecular structure influences physicochemical properties, self-assembly, micellization, adsorption, and interfacial phenomena, while integrating recent advances in synthesis, characterization, and theoretical understanding of these systems. Bridging fundamental science with real-world relevance, the book highlights a wide range of industrial and technological applications, including pharmaceuticals, drug delivery, wastewater treatment, petrochemicals, biotechnology, environmental remediation, food, cosmetics, textiles, and advanced materials. Emphasis is placed on sustainable, biodegradable, and eco-friendly surfactants and polymers, as well as emerging materials such as biosurfactants, ionic liquid surfactants, polymeric micelles, and multifunctional polymer systems. Edited by internationally recognized experts and featuring contributions from leading researchers worldwide, this volume serves as an authoritative reference for both academia and industry. It is designed for graduate and senior undergraduate students, researchers, scientists, and engineers working in surfactant science, polymer chemistry, colloidal and interfacial science, and related disciplines, offering both theoretical insight and practical guidance for advancing research and industrial innovation.

  • Combines solution chemistry, interfacial behavior, and physicochemical properties of both surfactants and polymers in a single, unified reference
  • Goes beyond general chemistry texts by deeply exploring solution behavior, surface activity, self-assembly, and interaction mechanisms
  • Highlights biodegradable, non-toxic, and environmentally sustainable surfactants and polymers
  • Fundamental concepts are directly connected to applications in pharmaceuticals, drug delivery, wastewater treatment, petrochemicals, cosmetics, detergents, food, biomedical, and environmental industries

Malik Abdul Rub completed his PhD in Physical Chemistry from Aligarh Muslim University, India, in 2011. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Centre of Excellence for Advanced Materials and Research (CEAMR), King Abdulaziz University. His research focuses on solution and colloidal behaviour of surfactants and amphiphiles, mixed micellization of amphiphilic drugs with various additives, and the thermodynamics of amphiphilic systems. He has extensive experience studying interactions of amphiphilic drugs with bile salts, triblock polymers, surfactants, proteins, hydrotropes, and lipids using a wide range of physicochemical techniques. His work also includes the synthesis and characterization of gemini and novel surfactants for use as drug carriers and their interactions with biologically relevant additives.Dr. Malik has an extensive publication record in high-quality journals, has authored books, and has contributed to patent-related work. He has also been consistently recognized among the Top 2% Scientists Worldwide in rankings published by Stanford University across multiple years.Dr. Naved Azum is an Associate Professor at the Center of Excellence for Advanced Materials Research, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah. He previously served as an Assistant Professor at Aligarh Muslim University before joining King Abdulaziz University in 2011.
