Beskrivning
Trevor Nickolls has been dubbed the 'father' of urban Aboriginal art. He stunned an international audience when he represented Australia alongside Rover Thomas at the Venice Biennale in 1990. He has tackled both the plight of indigenous people in contemporary Australia and the alienation we all experience in a high-tech age. For over 30 years he has impressed audiences with his powerful and potent vision. Trevor Nickolls burst onto the scene in 1978 with his searing exhibition From Dreamtime to Machine Time in Canberra at a time when urban Aboriginal art was essentially unheard of. Thus Nickolls helped pave the way for an explosive new art movement that would shatter preconceptions about the paradigms of indigenous creativity. Provocative and passionate, political and personal, Trevor Nickolls has rightfully carved a major position in the history of contemporary Australian art.
