This is the first study of the colorful history and controversial films of the Cymraeg Film Board (1971 - 86), which was established solely to produce Welsh-language films such as Teissnau Mair, O''r Dæarah Hen and Madam Wen. When tracing the history of the organisation, it is argued that the establishment of the Board was part of the battle to protect and protect the Welsh language.
