Beskrivning
A review of the flow features in a hydraulic jump and its technical applications as an energy dissipator. Based on technical literature, it summarizes, compares and generalizes present ideas. Particular stress is laid on explaining the basic terms, describing effects of energy dissipation on various neighbouring fields and presenting prototype experiences with hydraulic jump dissipators. These structures are also compared with other means of energy dissipation found in dam engineering. As a result civil engineers working both in practice and in research may gain an impression of what is actually being done in a rapidly expanding fgield of applied hydraulics.
