MICHEL DELEERS is Vice President, Global Pharmaceutical Technology and Analytical Development and Clinical Supplies for UCB Pharma, Chemin du Foriest, Braine l’Alleud, Belgium, responsible for developing products with new drug delivery systems, new nano and microparticulate systems, and alternative routes of adminstration for insoluble and biological drugs. He received the Ph.D. degree in chemical sciences (1978) and the D.Sc. degree (1986) from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. A member of the Royal Chemical Society of Belgium, the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), Dr. Deleers has published more than 125 scientific articles and has obtained 20 patents. YASHWANT PATHAK is currently Director, Research and Development for PharmaFab, Grand Prairie, Texas, a company providing contract research services for specialized drug delivery systems. The author of over 100 research publications, including several papers on sub-micronized emulsions and PLA: PLGA nano-particles, he began his career as a Lecturer in pharmaceutics at Delhi University, New Delhi, India. Dr. Pathak received the Ph.D. degree from Nagpur University, India and was awarded a fellowship from the American Heart Association to complete research on cardiovascular drug delivery systems.
