Power system reliability and security is highly dependent on the practices employed in both the commissioning and maintenance processes. It is aimed primarily at those who are at the outset of their career in electrical engineering, but additionally provides a thorough reference for more experienced engineers.

Early appointments were concerned with on-site commissioning and maintenance - spanning distribution, transmission and generation. In recent years he has held senior positions in transmission substation design in both the project management and engineering arms of the National Grid Company, with specific responsibility for commissioning management and associated technical processes.
