    Beskrivning

In the present context, intensive and unregulated exploitation of medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) has significantly compromised their conservation status, posing serious risks to their long-term sustainable availability. Consequently, the development and implementation of effective and adaptive conservation strategies have become critically important, particularly as emerging challenges such as climate change and biological invasions further exacerbate pressures on MAP populations.Conservation Strategies for Medicinal and Aromatic Plants in Asia: Current Scenario and Future Perspectives presents a comprehensive and state-of-the-art overview of existing conservation approaches for MAPs across Asia. It integrates traditional and indigenous knowledge with modern scientific frameworks to assess the conservation status of MAPs and to design region-specific, evidence-based strategies. The volume addresses emerging challenges such as climate change, habitat degradation, overharvesting, and biological invasions, while offering up-to-date insights into disease management, sustainable harvesting, cultivation, and ex situ and in situ conservation techniques.Salient features:Highlights the rich indigenous and traditional knowledge systems associated with MAPs across Asian countries.Presents standardized criteria for assessing the conservation status of MAPs to support the formulation of targeted and effective conservation strategies.Provides up-to-date insights into disease management, propagation methods, and conservation techniques for MAPs.Showcases successful conservation case studies from various regions of Asia, illustrating practical and evidence-based conservation practices.Offers critical policy perspectives and strategic recommendations to support the conservation, sustainable use, and governance of MAPs.This book is a valuable reference for undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars, teachers, and early-career researchers working in ethnobotany, ethnomedicine, Ayurveda, and MAPs. It is also relevant for scientists, conservationists, policymakers, resource managers, NGOs, industry professionals, and government agencies involved in the conservation, restoration, and sustainable utilization of MAPs across Asia.
