Beskrivning
Psychopathology: The Basics is a comprehensive introduction to the study of mental health issues that are considered abnormal.Adopting a broadly biomedical classification, the book also discusses the assumptions and limitations of this approach. It provides a clear, balanced, and accessible overview of various perspectives on mental health issues and their treatment. Chapters cover the historical evolution of psychopathology, examine the current understanding of specific mental health categories (including developmental disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, the schizophrenia spectrum, substance-related and addictive disorders, and personality disorders), and consider biological, social and cultural analysis. Case study boxes throughout offer real-world insights, and suggestions for further reading and a glossary of key terms enhance understanding. This book is essential for undergraduates on psychology courses and for A level / high school psychology students.

Recensioner i media

“A very well written account of mental distress, suitable for a wide range of readers. It is integrative, in that it considers a range of explanatory perspectives on this usually daunting topic and explains clearly the links between them.”Prof. Frederick Toates, Emeritus Professor of Biological Psychology, Open University, UK; Author of Motivational Systems: A Biopsychological Introduction
