Kaviyarasu Kasinathan is a researcher specializing in nanoscience, sustainable materials, and energy technologies. Formerly a Senior Researcher at the UNESCO Africa Chair in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (U2ACN2), he is now an Associate Professor at the Institute for Catalysis and Energy Solutions (ICES), University of South Africa (UNISA). As the author of 340 scientific publications, he has achieved an h-index of 89 and authored more than 22,779 citations. He has made significant contributions to advanced nanomaterials, energy storage systems, catalysis, and sustainable technology. Through his research, he emphasizes the value of waste, sustainable materials, and environmentally sustainable energy solutions through the integration of nanotechnology and circular economy principles. He specializes in developing advanced nanomaterials for applications such as energy storage, catalysis, environmental remediation, and sustainable technologies. As part of his work, Dr. Kasinathan increasingly emphasizes sustainable materials design, waste monetization, and environmentally responsible energy solutions, integrating nanotechnology with circular economy principles. Developing low-carbon and resource-efficient technologies is his objective through his interdisciplinary research on nanostructured materials, green synthesis strategies, and electrochemical energy systems. Several of his publications highlight innovative approaches to converting waste resources into value-added functional materials, which support sustainable production and responsible consumption. His research has addressed emerging challenges in materials science, biotechnology, and sustainability. He has written and edited several international academic books and research publications. In addition to his editorial contributions to leading academic publishers, he has also contributed to books exploring biological model systems, nanotechnology applications, and the development of sustainable materials. As part of his current book project, Embracing the Circular Economy Framework: An Integrated Approach to Balance Consumption and Production, he examines how scientific innovation, sustainable resource management, and policy frameworks can work together to advance the transition toward a circular economy.Syed Beer Mohamed is a distinguished materials scientist, educator, and academic leader whose career spans more than three decades of teaching, research, and innovation.
