Investigative Journalism in a Networked Age

Carolyne M. Lunga is an Associate Professor of Journalism. She teaches and researches cross border investigative journalism, international news, global journalism, digital journalism, investigative journalism, data journalism and media ethics at the University of Portsmouth and City St Georges’ University of London. She is a former journalist and the founder of the Generative AI and Journalism research cluster and Editor of the Global collection on Generative AI and Journalism Education. Her PhD thesis on cross-border investigative journalism received global recognition as outstanding by the International Communication Association (ICA)’s journalism division.Maria Konow-Lund is a professor of journalism and media studies at Oslo Metropolitan University and an experienced project manager with a background in investigative reporting. She began her career as a journalist, earning several awards for her work and contributing to the field as both a reporter and board member within investigative journalism. Her research focuses on hybrid investigative journalism, innovation in the field, cross-border collaboration, and the safety of female investigative journalists.Paul Lashmar is an Emeritus Fellow, former Head of Journalism at City St Georges’ University of London, investigative journalism and author. He is a Reader in Journalism, and his research interests include media freedom, investigative journalism, anti-corruption, intelligence-media relations, and organised crime reporting. He is an expert on journalism sources and source protection. Paul has been an investigative journalist in television and print and on the staff of The Observer, Granada Television’s World in Action current affairs series, and The Independent.Gerry Lanosga is an Associate Professor at The Media School at Indiana University Bloomington. His research and teaching revolve around the practice of journalism in both contemporary and historical settings. His interests include the development of journalism as a profession, prize culture in journalism, and journalism’s intersections with public policy. Lanosga completed his Ph.D. in 2010 at Indiana University and taught for three years at Ball State University before returning to IU. Winner of the duPont/Columbia award, the George Foster Peabody award, and the Investigative Reporters and Editors’ Freedom of Information Medal. Lanosga serves on the boards of several non-profit organizations – the Midwest Center for Investigative Reporting, the Indiana Coalition for Open Government, the Indiana Debate Commission, and the Media School’s Michael I. Arnolt Center for Investigative Journalism.
