Beskrivning
This book traces the journeys over the past hundred years of the countries of East Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia as they pursued their national aspirations to develop modern aerospace industries. The chapters recount the stories of how, in the context of tumultuous political circumstances, national governments implemented centralized strategies that the industrial sector strove to execute.Readers will gain an understanding of the contrasting strategies of economic development of the aerospace industry in the various countries. Good government planning and decisions clearly resulted in successful development, whereas poor government, corruption, and political instability resulted in failure of the industry to develop. The chapters provide operational histories of industrial entities in the countries and trace their performances on individual aircraft programs in which they were involved. The overall approach is a synthesis of cultural factors, government intervention strategies, and industrial management practices over multiple individual aircraft programs. The book provides numerous historical lessons concerning development of a national aerospace industry, and will be of interest to academics and scholars in the fields of Aerospace Management, Asian Studies and Economic Development in particular.
