This book offers methodological reflections and practical strategies for engaging autistic and neurodivergent people in qualitative research, from project design and data collection to dissemination. Drawing on case studies from Italy, Canada, and the United States, it presents concrete examples of collaboration with autistic and disabled communities, colleagues, and participants. Written by an anthropologist and a sociologist, the text advances a co-productive, inclusive, and accessible approach to research, organized around three guiding principles: flexibility, creativity, and trust. It also critically examines power relations shaping autistic/non-autistic, disabled/non-disabled, and university/community research encounters, and reflects more broadly on the practice of qualitative research itself.
