Qualitative comparative methods - and specifically controlled qualitative comparisons - are central to the study of politics. Nicholas Rush Smith is Assistant Professor of Political Science at the City University of New York – City College and Senior Research Associate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Johannesburg.
