Beskrivning
Utopia is a fascinating novel that tells the story of a visitor to a distant island home to a community that has established an ideal society. Based on harmony, justice, rationality, virtue, equality and the pursuit of happiness, it presents a sharp contrast with sixteenth century England. This remarkable novel is complex, insightful and far-sighted, and has, for centuries, been of great interest to scholars, politicians, writers and readers who have sought to untangle its mysteries and bring to life their own utopias.ABOUT THE SERIES: The Arcturus Classics series brings together high-quality paperback editions of classics works, presented with contemporary graphic cover designs. Together they make a wonderful collection which is perfect for any home library.

Mer om författaren
Thomas More (1779-1852) was one of the most influential figures in Tudor England. A lawyer, philosopher, statesman, author, judge and prominent humanist, he was a key advisor to Henry VIII but lost the king's trust - and his life - through his opposition to the Reformation. He was later canonised as a saint by the Catholic church. This edition contains the 1684 translation by Gilbert Burnet (1643-1715). Burnet was a Scottish philosopher and historian fluent in several languages and was most famous for his magnum opus, the three-volume History of the Reformation.
