George S. Rousseau is Emeritus Professor at De Montfort University and now attached to the History Faculty of the University of Oxford. He has long been interested in the interface of culture and medicine and has written widely on the subject. His books include This Long Disease, My Life: Alexander Pope and the Sciences, The Languages of Psyche, Medicine and the Muses, Perilous Enlightenment, and Gout: The Patrician Malady.
