Beskrivning
Matthew was a tax collector, a disgrace to his people. But Jesus, in his grace, called him to be a disciple and to write a book about him for his own people, the Jews. The central theme of Matthew is two–fold:Jesus is the fulfilment of the promises in the Hebrew Scriptures and Jesus is the Messiah. John D. Hannah’s valuable contribution to the Focus on the Bible series is a layman’s commentary to this crucial book. Moving through the book, he shows how Matthew records the claims of Jesus to be King, and the rejection of Jesus as King.

Recensioner i media

”Hannah lets his theology and big picture of the Bible guide his exegesis in the best way. This book is faithful to the text and thus puts our eyes on our Shepherd–King whose return we continue to long for. “Patrick Schreiner(Associate Professor of New Testament and Biblical Theology, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, Missouri)”… an admirably concise and insightful exposition of Matthew’s Gospel. Providing his reader with clear and helpful charts and with thoughtful questions for reflection, Dr. Hannah helps his audience to understand, digest, and apply Matthew’s message. “Guy Prentiss Waters(James M. Baird, Jr. Professor of New Testament and Academic Dean, Reformed Theological Seminary, Jackson, Mississippi)
