Idiopatic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) represents one of the most important devastating diseases that affects the lungs. Traditionally, the development of acute or chronic respiratory failure in disiorepresents an important dilemma for pulmonologists, intensivists, internists and anesthesiologists, due to the limited respiratory and functional reserve of these patients.
