    Beskrivning

A call to live differently—not perfectly. The Alchemy of the Broken Blade is a field manual for those walking through the fire. It is for anyone who’s been shattered—by trauma; by grief; by the long, slow erosion of purpose in a world that worships distraction; that demands everything and gives little back. The Alchemy of the Broken Blade weaves a path for personal transformation through ritual, discipline, and relentless presence.Bestselling author Damien Echols delivers a practical tool kit for personal transformation and healing, not based on theory but on lived experience. He shares a spiritual practice born from extremes: From a wrongful conviction that led to death row, solitary confinement, spiritual breakdown, and resurrection, Echols spent years clawing his way out of despair and into a life he could stand inside again. And through that process, Echols discovered a path—not clean or easy but sacred. The Alchemy of the Broken Blade is a blending of Eastern (Zen) and Western (Hermetic) philosophies, braided together into a single spiritual process for transformation. Alchemy and Kaizen may seem worlds apart, but they share a root principle: transformation through presence. The core concept revolves around finding your personal “Way” (dō), a path of lasting transformation achieved through sustained practice. Alchemy says: Take yourself apart. Purify. Refine. Recombine. Buddhism says: Start where you are. Take one small step, then another. Both are doorways to becoming.Echols stresses that you must find your own path—inner transformation is personal to each of us. Our varied experiences give us our tools, our unique materia magica. The Alchemy of the Broken Blade will help you discover the lifelong work of inner alchemy that feeds you and makes you whole.

    Mer om författaren

Damien Echols is an American author who first became known as one of three teenagers, the West Memphis Three, wrongly convicted of a triple murder in 1994. DNA evidence secured his release from death row in 2011, after which Echols authored several autobiographical and spiritual/magickal books. A New York Times bestselling author, Echols has appeared on countless news programs and podcasts and has been featured in documentaries, including the Oscar-nominated HBO premiere film Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory. Interviews with Echols have been featured in magazine and newspaper articles such as The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Guardian, and Vanity Fair. In 2020 he starred in Netflix’s Midnight Gospel. On death row, largely kept in solitary confinement, Echols studied and practiced Buddhism and was ordained in the Rinzai tradition of Zen by a Japanese Zen master. An avid reader, he became interested in ceremonial magick and spent his two decades in prison studying magick and esoterica. He lives in upstate New York with his wife Lorri Davis.

    Recensioner i media

“The Alchemy of the Broken Blade by Damien Echols isn’t a book about magick or martial arts. Even though these two disciplines hum in the background, this is a guidebook for transformation. It’s about turning pain into purpose through devotion, ritual, and right living. No matter how broken you may feel, you can heal. Echols is the living embodiment of what happens when you commit to a practice, take small steps, and remain present, even in discomfort. Follow his pragmatic, gentle guidance, and you’ll find your ‘way.’ A must-read book for anyone who wants to rebuild their life from the inside out and the outside in.”—Theresa Reed, author of The Book of Astrological Returns“This book is a testament of how despair can transform into hope by looking inwards instead of backwards. Damien’s story is heartbreaking and inspiring all at once. Patience was not only his virtue; it was his lifeline.”—Tony Hawk, entrepreneur and legendary professional skateboarder“The Alchemy of the Broken Blade is an exquisitely written book about learning to show up for your own life; about ‘transformation through presence.’ You can feel the presence that Echols has fought for throughout the pages, as alchemy is presented as the grit of deliberate destruction and rebirth. No quick fixes here—this is a book about devotion and the dignity of self-discipline. Less performing and more embodying. The body is sacred, strength is sacred, and the reward is peace.”—Chelsea Wolfe, singer-songwriter
