Lorna Piatti-Farnell, Ph.D., is academic dean at SAE Creative Media Institute in Auckland, New Zealand. She is the principal editor of The Australasian Journal of Popular Culture. She is an adjunct research professor at Curtin University, Australia, and the director of the Australasian Horror Studies Network (AHSN). Her research interests lie at the intersection of film, popular media and cultural history, and include a focus on corporeality, horror, bio-ethics, disability, eco-environmental studies, technology, superheroes and the gothic. She has published widely in these areas, including volumes such as Gothic Afterlives: Reincarnations of Horror in Film and Popular Media (editor; Lexington, 2019) and The Superhero Multiverse: Readapting Popular Icons in Twenty-first-century Film and Popular Media (editor; Lexington, 2021).
