    Beskrivning

With the incorporation into domestic law of the European Convention on Human Rights, the UK courts will increasingly be called upon to strike the balance between the potentially conflicting rights of the right to privacy under Article 8 and the right to freedom of expression under Article 10. This book looks at the legal and constitutional development of both these rights and the relationship between them in several other countries: France, Germany, Canada, New Zealand and Australia and before the European Court of Human Rights. With a particular focus on cases concerning the media, it is an important source for all those interested in the development of these areas of law under the Human Rights Act. Contributors: Madeleine Colvin; Catherine Dupre; Rosalind English; David Lindsay; Marguerite Russell; Jemima Stratford; Rosemary Tobin

    Recensioner i media

It is becomnig increasingly clear that the preferred route to a proper law of privacy is likely to be through Parliament and not by way of the haphazard path inevitably taken by the common law. Any who are called upon to advise the legislators in this onerous task could do worse than start their labours with this timely work. B Mahendra New Law Journal October 2002 ... a wide-ranging, accessible and interesting book. Each of the essays provides a clear overview of privacy protection in the jurisdiction in question and, collectively, they cover a variety of different approaches to privacy issues. The book would be a useful starting point for anyone with a general interest in comparative privacy law or for those seeking an introduction to privacy principles in the jurisdictions covered. Nicole Moreham Cambridge Law Journal August 2004
