He has 20 years' experience of working with families of children and adolescents who present with a broad range of behavioural and emotional problems, and has trained as a family therapist.

It is written in an accessible but academic style, which is both thorough and sincere. The book is well structured with clearly flagged sections within each chapter that allow the reader to easily locate the passage they're looking for. This may seem like a trivial point, but for a busy practitioner ease of access is a significant factor.
