Write Black, Write British

An examination of the new black British writers in Britain, born in Britain and writing about Britain from a specific British perspective. This collection of essays puts the work of British-born writers of African and Caribbean parentage, under the microscope. Themes of alienation, belonging, gender politics, identity, language, madness and race reverberate with a peculiar variance than that of other post-colonial writers. Included are essays on Andrea Levy, Zadie Smith, Benjamin Zephaniah, Leone Ross and Jackie Kay.
