   I really enjoyed reading this text. The author's colloquial style makes this an easy read, and it's packed with lots of good tips, techniques and examples of how to improve your ability to truly communicate. (Which the author clearly distinguishes from failing to communicate, an issue with which most of us wrestle.) In fact, a good third of this book is devoted to describing the various types of "noise" that prevents accurate communication, along with methods to bypass the noise. There's also a small chapter with tips on public speaking, and a really excellent chapter focused on giving and receiving feedback.

   This was my introduction to the world of communication skills and I found it very useful. Learning about Metaprograms and seeing things from other people'e perspective and communication obstacles were particularly thought provoking. Overall, It is an excellent book to start your communication skills training journey with.

   This is an excellent book which addresses an important subject. I started reading it because I am a PhD nursing program and am interested in end-of-life decision making and care. I couldn't put it down. I ended up sending a copy to my parents and my mother-in-law. This is something that needs to be done earlier rather than later and this book is a great starting place.
