Refugee Migration and Health

Prof. Dr. Alexander Kraemer is an internist, epidemiologist and public health expert. From 1994 - 2017, he was the Head of the Department of Public Health Medicine at the School of Public Health, Bielefeld University. Currently, he is senior professor and director of the Graduate Research Programme on Refugee Health (FlüGe) at the University of Bielefeld that comprises six different faculties. Alexander Kraemer has extensive experience in the design, conduction and analysis of population-based studies and has participated in large research consortia on the health of migrants in Europe, syndromic surveillance, burden of communicable diseases, and two long-term projects on health in megacities in China and Bangladesh.Dr. Florian Fischer is trained as a paramedic and studied health communication and public health at Bielefeld University. He is an expert in the field of epidemiology and public health. His research and teaching activities focus on global health,the burden of disease approach, evidence-based public health and eHealth. Since 2016, he has coordinated a graduate school at Bielefeld University, which includes 13 doctoral students from various scientific disciplines focussing on the topic of refugee health.
