Classical and Relativistic Rational Extended Thermodynamics of Gases

​Tommaso Ruggeri is an Emeritus Professor of the University of Bologna and a member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. His research activity has been dedicated to the propagation of nonlinear waves and nonequilibrium thermodynamics. He produced original contributions regarding the symmetrization of hyperbolic systems with convex entropy. He is one of the founders of modern extended thermodynamics, and is the author, together with Ingo Müller, of the book Rational Extended Thermodynamics (Springer, 1993 and 1998)Masaru Sugiyama is an Emeritus Professor of Nagoya Institute of Technology and a foreign member of Accademia delle Scienze dell'Istituto di Bologna. He has been working in continuum mechanics, and also in nonequilibrium statistical mechanics and thermodynamics.  In particular, in recent years, he has obtained important results in rational extended thermodynamics of real gases.  He is the coauthor of the book Rational Extended Thermodynamics beyond the Monatomic Gas (Springer 2015) with Tommaso Ruggeri
