This more-of-physics, less-of-math, insightful and comprehensive book simplifies computational fluid dynamics for readers with little knowledge or experience in heat transfer, fluid dynamics or numerical methods.
Dr. Atul Sharma is a Professor in the Mechanical Department at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, with a teaching and research experience on CFD code-development, its applications and big-data analysis for more than 20 years. Hehas proved leadership in capacity building in CFD, by providing training programme in more than 100 engineering-institutes, with a vision to make CFD-easy-enough to be taught at an early Under-Graduate curriculum. Most of his research contributions are on Computational Multi-Phase Dynamics, comprising Computational Multi-Fluid Dynamics and Computational Fluid-Structure Interactions. He has graduated 15 PhD students, with two best-PhD-thesis awards and SHELL computational-talent-prizes. His wide-variety of research is published as 79 articles in 29 different international-journals and 13 chapters in 4 edited-books; and appeared in the cover page of Journal of Fluid Mechanics, Physics of Fluids and Langmuir. He was a CFD consultant at Global R&D, Crompton Greaves Limited, Mumbai; served as Secretary, National Society of Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power INDIA; and presently, associate-editor of a Journal Sadhana – academy proceedings in engineering sciences. He received IIT Bombay “Departmental Award for Excellence in Teaching 2019”.
