Before transitioning to the academic world, Dr. Abreu had a successful career in the manufacturing industry, holding management positions. He has published over 150 publications in books, journals, and conference proceedings in areas such as logistics, project management, quality management, open innovation, risk management, and lean management. Ivan Galvão is Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon (ISEL), Portugal, and Integrated Researcher at the Center for Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Processes (CEMMPRE) at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. His research is in material joining and processing, specifically, welding technology and metallurgy, mechanical behavior of welded joints, solid-state welding of similar and dissimilar materials and solid-state processing of materials.
