Wolf Kane

Wolf Kahn (1927–2020), born to a distinguished, cultivated Jewish family, was forced to flee Frankfurt in 1939, arriving in the United States via England in 1940. After studying with Hans Hofmann in New York, Kahn developed a highly original approach to landscape painting based on the evocative power of colour, bringing an established American tradition into the present. Kahn’s inventive paintings parallel his compelling life story.
