The famous Italian novelist Alberto Moravia lived most of his life in the city of Rome, which was the scene of most of his stories. Thus, all of his stories are stories from Rome, so it was natural for them to appear in his books, starting with their title. Among the most famous of them is the novel "A Woman from Rome," which he published in 1947 after the end of World War II, in which he exposes the Italian middle class and shows its social and moral contradictions, including "Tales from Rome," which is a collection of short stories that he published in 1954. It consists of seven stories and anecdotes, each of which shows an aspect of the ancient city''s society. What distinguishes Moravian literature in general, and this collection of short stories in particular, is the great ability to narrate situations that reveal the sexual feelings and desires of its heroes, and the events that arise through satisfying those feelings and desires. In it, it avoids the character of superficial excitement, but it is distinguished by focusing on the psychological analysis of the type of relationship between the sexes or spouses.
