While SCM is a well-established discipline, innovative software engine- ing approaches constitute new challenges that require support in the form of new or improvedtools, techniques, and processes. This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the 30th International Workshop on Graph-Theoretic Concepts in Computer Science, WG 2004, held in Bad Honnef, Germany in June 2004.The 31 revised full papers presented together with 2 invited papers were carefully selected from 66 submissions during two rounds of reviewing and improvement. The papers are organized in topical sections on graph algorithms: trees; graph algorithms: recognition and decomposition; graph algorithms: various problems; optimization and approximation algorithms; parameterized complexity and exponential algorithms; counting, combinatorics, and optimization; applications in bioinformatics and graph drawing; and graph classes and NP-hard problems.

Thema des Buches ist die Integration von Umgebungen, die einzelne Prozesse unterstutzen, zu einer Gesamtumgebung; die resultierenden Entwicklungssysteme stehen daher im Mittelpunkt der Betrachtung. Die Problematik tritt in verschiedenen Disziplinen auf wie z.B. in der Fertigungs-, Verfahrens-, und Softwaretechnik und ist sowohl unter technischen als auch wirtschaftlichen Gesichtspunkten relevant. Entscheidend ist die Wiederverwendung existierender Umgebungen und Werkzeuge (A-posteriori-Integration) fur die Entwicklung komplexer technischer Produkte. Untersucht werden insbesondere moderne firmenubergreifende Prozesse (Concurrent/Simultaneous Engineering), die auf neuen Techniken wie Multimedia, verteilten Anwendungen u.a. basieren, sowie ein wiederverwendbares Rahmenwerk zur Integration der bestehenden Umgebungen.

This book is devoted to models and tools for managing development processes in the fields of software engineering and mechanical and chemical engineering. The author evaluates the state of the art in the area and presents an integrated approach addressing the limitations of the presently available tools and systems. The models introduced for managing development processes cover products, activities, and resources in a systematic and coherent way; moreover, the models are designed to cope with the dynamics of the development processes. The tools and the management system developed by the author provide customized environments for different classes of users. The management environment supports managers in coordinating managerial activities; developers use the work environment in order to perform technical activities; finally, the modeling environment is used to adapt the management system to specific application domains.
