北美耄齡神州童少年憶吟，記錄作者童少年在神州十餘年生活。愚出生於1936年，二歲時即因七七事變，隨家避倭四川，歷經艱苦八年抗戰。抗日戰爭勝利隨家遷居武漢。不久，國共內戰即起。再隨家遷居長沙、廣州。1949年又隨家遷居香港。童年與少年，不幸經過兩次天翻地覆的動亂和逃難，可謂生於憂患劣境。幸隨父母，雖然動亂和逃難辛苦、苦不堪言，但這些苦難全由外祖父母及嚴慈承擔。愚能在苦難中成長，衷心感激四位先人之愛護養育大恩大德。
