„Der Ritterspiegel“ des Johannes Rothe (4.108 Verse) ist die umfangreichste ritterliche Standeslehre des Mittelalters in deutscher Sprache. Sie wurde für junge Adlige vermutlich im Zusammenhang mit Rothes Tätigkeit als Schulleiter in Eisenach ab 1414 verfasst. Abgesehen von der literarhistorischen Bedeutung als Lehrgedicht, ist das Werk eine reiche Quelle für die Kultur- und Rechtsgeschichte des Rittertums, welche die traditionellen Züge des Standesmodells auf die Situation des 15. Jahrhunderts zuspitzt. Rothes Tugendadel-Konzept impliziert soziale Mobilität, also Auf- und Abstieg innerhalb der Ständehierarchie. Erörtert werden eine Geschichte des Rittertums; das Recht auf die Führung von Wappen und sieben Standesprivilegien; Regeln zu Kampf und Kriegsführung, die christlich moralisierend oder rein praktisch ausgerichtet sind; Aufgaben des Heerführers; Bedeutung der Astrologie. Der thüringische Text wurde auf Basis der Kasseler Handschrift neu ediert und übersetzt, der Kommentar erschließt sprachliche Fragen, historische Bezüge und den Quellenfundus des Werkes.

Der »Prosa-Lancelot« stellt nach wie vor eine Herausforderung für die mediävistischen Forschung dar. Da es sich bei dem mittelhochdeutschen Werk um die Übersetzung einer altfranzösischen Vorlage handelt, die z.T. über eine niederländische Zwischenstufe vermittelt sein könnte, ist der Roman im Kontext der französischen, niederländischen und deutschen Literaturgeschichte zu lesen. In Deutschland wird der »Lancelot en Prose« in der modernen Prosaform rezipiert, in den Niederlanden aber außerdem wieder als Versroman bearbeitet. Aufgrund dessen ist eine Untersuchung des Werks sinnvoll nur interdisziplinär anzugehen. Der Band beinhaltet die germanistischen, romanistischen und niederlandistischen sowohl literaturwissenschaftlichen als auch sprachhistorischen Beiträge zur Tübinger Lancelot-Tagung im September 2004. Die Aufsätze konzentrieren sich auf die Themenfelder: I. Übersetzungspraxis und Prosa-Stil, II. Erzählstrategien und Sinnkonstitution, III. Überlieferung und Wirkung.

Die schätzungsweise 400.000 Zwangssterilisierten und die Angehörigen der etwa 300.000 durch die "Euthanasie" Ermordeten wurden nach dem Krieg erneut ausgegrenzt und Forderungen nach Entschädigungen und weiteren Anerkennungen abgelehnt.Die Stimmen der Betroffenen sind in umfangreichen Interviews zugänglich. Huber untersucht die Auswirkung der staatlichen Diskriminierung auf das Familienleben sowie das soziale Umfeld, erhebt Selbstkonstruktion und Fremdzuschreibung ausgehend von Stellungnahmen der Betroffenen. Erst lange nach 1945 änderte sich der Umgang mit Menschen mit Behinderungen und Psychiatrieerfahrungen, nicht zuletzt dank dem Einsatz von Betroffenen. Das wirkte sich auch auf die Arbeit von Gedenkstätten aus.
