El militarismo no llega un día y se apodera de todo sin previo aviso: solo se adueña de una sociedad si se va consolidando de forma gradual. Y en cada paso de este proceso hay un elemento de género. En otras palabras, cada paso por el que se alimentan las ideas, los incentivos y las relaciones militarizadas depende de una determinada noción (reducida) de lo que es un «hombre de verdad», o (distorsionada) de lo que es una «buena mujer».Se puede resistir la militarización, se puede incluso revertirla, pero para ello es necesario arrojar una luz brillante y crítica sobre las operaciones cotidianas del patriarcado, y es necesario prestar atención a la vida diaria y a las relaciones íntimas.
