This volume concerns the papal documents and other contacts of the papacy with the Diocese of Burgos in Spain up to the year 1198. The first volume in the subseries entitled "Iberia Pontificia" is dedicated to the more than 200 registers of the Diocese of Burgos in Castile whose bishops maintained intenstive contacts with the papacy, being directly subject to the Apostolic See. Particular emphasis is placed on the protracted disputes concerning the Diocese borders and claims of ownership that often ended up before the Roman Pontifex. This alone proves the importance of the role of the papacy in the reorganization of the Iberian church order during the Reconquista.

The third volume of the Iberia Pontificia concerns the pontifical relations of the Castilian Diocese Palencia up through 1198 based on 200 extant registers. With the Diocese Palencia this third volume of the Iberia Pontificia is concerned for the first time with a Suffragan diocese from the Church province of Toledo. Besides dealing with the pontifical contacts of the bishops and the cathedral chapter it also looks at the relations between the papacy and the monasteries of the dioceses found in extant registers. This volume offers a comprehensive compilation of the archives and historiographical evidence as well as an extensive bibliography on the individual recipients and a historical introduction.

Der sechste Band der Iberia Pontificia erschließt in gut 400 kommentierten Regesten die Papstbeziehungen der nordöstlichen spanischen Bistümer Pamplona, Calahorra und Tarazona bis zum Jahr 1198. Die in den Königreichen von Navarra und Aragón gelegenen Bistümer waren allesamt Suffragane der Kirchprovinz Tarragona. Pamplona überstand die Umwälzungen während der Eroberung des Westgotenreiches weitgehend unbeschadet, während Calahorra 1045 und Tarazona 1119 im Zuge der Reconquista restituiert wurden. Gegliedert nach Empfängerinstitutionen, erfasst der Band alle Papstkontakte im Gebiet der drei Diözesen und schließt dabei auch Kontakte zu päpstlichen Legaten und delegierten Richtern mit ein. Neben den seit dem 11. Jahrhundert bestehenden regelmäßigen Beziehungen der Bischöfe nach Rom spielten noch eine Reihe bedeutender Klöster wie San Millán de la Cogolla, San Salvador de Leire, Santa María la Real de Fitero oder Santa María de Roncesvalles eine wichtige Rolle für die Kirchenpolitik der Region. Wie bei den anderen Bänden der Reihe bietet auch dieser Band Nachweise der archivalischen und historiographischen Überlieferung, bibliographische Angaben zu den Empfängerinstitutionen sowie historische Einführungen.
